Adult Basic Education
Our Adult Basic Education students come from many backgrounds and abilities. Some struggle with basic reading, writing and math. Some need assistance with learning how to use a computer, learning to drive or developing the work skills that will allow them to reach greater independence and financial stability.
We can help.
All our programs are free to the learner. We teach students one-on-one and in small class sizes. This is to ensure learners have the individual attention they need to succeed, and can work at a pace that suits them and their learning styles. Students are evaluated to find their individual learning levels and we develop an individual plan to work with them.
More advanced students may be guided into our GED program or certification classes. Other learners may be better served with a slower-paced learning environment or alternative educational outcomes.
At Racine Literacy Council, we value every learner. We want to provide opportunities for our students to live a rich and fulfilling life, no matter the barriers they may encounter. Many of our teachers, tutors and board members bring expertise in working with adult learners, alternative education, special education, disability services and transitions-focused workforce development.
Whether it’s providing accessible education, helping working parents find a way to access services or giving someone a boost to improve their job skills, we’re here to help.
