English Language Learners

We offer free English classes to English Language Learners (ELL) from around the world. Tutors work with students from very basic levels up to advanced levels. ELL students held in small groups or one-on-one tutoring.

Classes are available at our Racine office at 734 Lake Ave, in Burlington and in afterschool programs in select schools in Racine. ESL tutors are available Monday-Thursday and Saturday. We also invite families to register for our Family Literacy program in which parents can focus on learning while their children work with tutors.

ELL students make up the largest group of students at Racine Literacy Council. While the majority are Spanish-speakers and we have bilingual staff an tutors available, we serve people of all backgrounds.

Our ELL program has a waiting list and we seek to connect learners with a tutor as quickly as possible. We are in need of tutors and invite community members to volunteer.
